Analog Synths and Pedophiles - What's the Connection?
Thursday, May 22, 2008 at 09:35AM Chris Morris, one of the greatest living comedian/ composers/ writers EVER.
Chris Morris has poked his satirical creative genius into my life on quite a few occasions, from the fabulously satirical news spoof shows "Brass Eye" (the greatest from this series has got to be 2001's "Paedogeddon") and "the Day Today" to Jam (and its "remix" version, "Jaaaaam").
Most recently, "Nathan Barley" and "The IT Crowd" have been added to his impressive body of work (let it be noted that the wonderful Julian Barrett from The Mighty Boosh graces us with his presence in Nathan Barley as well).
Mr. Morris also creates the disorientating, lush ambient music for the majority of the shows...as well as ditties like this hilarious vocoder-laden theme to "Paedogeddon":
Anyway, Maf & I watched a number of episodes of Nathan Barley on Youtube this week and it was only until the song 'Bad to Have a Bad Uncle' appeared in the show that we suspected that painfully sharp and twisted mind was at work - it HAD to be Chris Morris!.
His music is worth mentioning on its own - he's released a Blue Jam compilation album with Warp Records that includes music by the likes of Aphex Twin, Jimi Tenor, The Herbaliser, Amon Tobin, Brian Eno and more....learn about Blue Jam here.
There is no music/comedy combination that I can think of that unsettles and makes me laugh at the same time!! Isnt that a great feeling?
But fair warning, if you don't know who Bill Hicks is or you've never heard Derek and Clive this may well not be for you. Lucky for us here at AnalogSuicide.com, we have enough nuts in our cake to enjoy some sweetly dark humour. Have a peek at this fine collection, come on....
My favorite is first,"Paedogeddon":
And from Blue Jam (Audio Only):
More?
Nothing like a nice, wholesome chuckle.
