Sonovox Love & Sparky's Magic Piano!!!
Being a vocalist-turned-songwriter-turned-gear pornographer, I'm forever fascinated and charmed by gear that strangles and mangles the human voice...vocoders, talkboxes, filtering the voice through synths and pedals.... and of course - the Sonovox:
Wow!!!
Here is a quote from the inventor, Gilbert Hunger Wright, via The Music of Sound ...check out the photo of the Sonovox in use!
"....with the Sonovox, a sound recording of a waterfall, a vociferating animal, rattling dice or whatnot is fed through wires to two little biscuit-shaped gadgets which are placed on each side of the throat against the larynx. These gadgets transmit the sound vibrations to the larynx, so that the sound comes out of the throat as if produced there. The sound is shaped into speech by mouthing the desired words.”
The Sonovox's amazing capabilities were also demonstrated on the 1947 children's audio series , "Sparky's Magic Piano".
My husband Maf showed me this story several months ago while we were shopping online for laryngeal microphones(ha!)...The story is moving, dark and full of childlike melancholy.
Listen to Sparky's Magic Piano herevia RecordProducer.com....
Beautiful , isnt it?
Here's more!
Analog Suicide's humble view? I've used my Farfisa Compact Deluxe with my Rocktron Talkbox (admittedly to cure a hangover) but with the Sonovox, I'd love to use something simple; like a 1967 Volkswagon Beetle....
Tell me your ideas, dear readers! Photos, links, films please....

Ha, they should have plated it through the dog. Very nice.
Come to think of it, giraffes would be great. I thought they were mute, but according to Wikipedia, "giraffes will grunt, snort, hiss, or make strange flute-like sounds". That nice long neck must be very resonant inside.
Wait....what if you were to apply the Sonovox to an animal to make human noises?
